An overview of permissions in Staction

Permissions are very easy in Staction. The first thing to understand is that there are only two types of permissions in Staction.

1. Basic permissions work on a project by project basis and follow a few rules:

  • When you create a new project, by default, everyone has access to it. If you need to restrict access, you can change this on the projects page.
  • When you add a new user to your account, they are not given permission to see any projects that were created in the past. You need to manually add them to the projects you would like them to have access to, if that’s the case.
  • If you happen to send a message tagged with a project that the person doesn’t have access to, a message will pop-up alerting you of this issue and giving you the option to quickly grant new permissions.

2. Private Messages

  • When you tag an update with someone’s name the conversation becomes private – meaning only you and the recipient specified can read it. You may also send private messages to multiple recipients.
  • One thing to remember about private messages, there isn’t any way to go back and make them visible to everyone – once a message is private, it stays that way.

The only other thing to note about permissions in Staction is that there’s no user level differentiation – no admins, moderators or anything like that. Everyone can do anything, with the only exception being that only the account owner has access to altering billing details, making plan upgrades and changing the SSL settings of the account.
